Good morning folks. I’m Jay Smith from Prestwick Country Club and I have a tip today that will hopefully help your golf game.
We all have issues with when we take our backswing and our elbow might get a little of this going on, commonly referred to as the chicken wing. We don’t want that. So what I’m going to try to help you do is figure out how to stop that so that you don’t do the over the top swing and then the ball can go left, it can go right, and there’s just no consistency. So now I’m going to try to help you get rid of the the so-called chicken wing, which never results in a good shot. I’m bad about doing it. Everybody is.
So you can see I have a towel in my hand. You’re probably asking, what’s he going to do with that towel? It is kind of warm out here today. It’s a beautiful day in Myrtle Beach. But what I’m going to do is I’m going to stick it right here. And when I take the club back, what it’s going to do, it’s going to hold this in so that I don’t get this and allow me to go down and through the shot and hopefully have a nice, nice clean shot. club goes down the line and the ball goes where it’s supposed to. Now obviously you can’t take this on the golf course and do it. So I’m going to try to hit a shot like this. It is a little awkward, I’ll go ahead and tell you. And you can’t really do a full swing. And of course I lost the towel, but you saw I couldn’t do this. So one more thing you can try if you don’t like the towel is once you get set up, make sure your shoulders are square. Make sure you’re not doing this where your right shoulder’s out, but find your target, set up, you can tuck your right elbow in, which gives you the same thing, and then do your swing. And it gets you down the line. Hopefully you hit a good shot. Hope that tip helps you out.
