Crow Creek Golf Club in Calabash, North Carolina is closed for the next couple months as they change a few things around the property.  On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we are going to take a look at the work that is being done and how the progress is coming along.  It is tough anytime the decision is made to shut a course down but the results will be well worth the time and the wait for golfers as well as the staff at the club.

The main reason for shutting the course down till October 2nd is the changing of the greens.  The putting surfaces are being update to a newer strand of Bentgrass surface.  Crow Creek has had a reputation of great Bentgrass greens since it opened.  Time has passed and just like anything else, once in awhile things need to be updated.  That is the case here with the greens.

“It was just time to do it” said PGA Head Professional Jimmy Biggs.  “There was not anything wrong really with the greens we had.  It was just time to make an change and provide our golfers with the best greens we can and that is what we are going to do.”

In addition to the new greens, the golf course is getting a few other changes.  Some trees are being removed.  Some of the bunkers are being  cleaned up and re shaped.  The cart paths are getting some repair work as well as some of the tee boxes.  This is really a time that the management and staff are taking advantage of upgrading what was already a fantastic product.  Crow Creek is going to be better that ever when the process is finished.

The clubhouse is also seeing some work done while the course is shutdown.  No structural changes are on the way.  But golfers will notice fresh coats of paint in many parts of the building.  The bar and grill area is getting a facelift.  Some new decor and furniture will highlight one of the best golf course bars on the entire Grand Strand.  Even the pro shop will see some updating.

Overall we are very excited to see what the changes are going to bring once October 2nd rolls around.  What we know for sure is that golfers will still receive the same top shelf customer service that Jimmy and his staff have always provided over the years.
