On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we visit our good buddy Brett Thomaswick and his staff at Sandpiper Bay Golf and Country Club to check on the summertime fun they are offering golfers. Brett is the PGA Head Professional at Sandpiper Bay and he always has his members and guest in mind when he makes up the fun in the sun activities.
Sandpiper Bay is located in Sunset Beach, NC, just a 20-minute drive from Myrtle Beach. The town offers pristine beaches, family-oriented activities, and a quick escape from the bustling, tourist destination of Myrtle Beach. Sunset Beach was recently ranked the #1 barrier island on the North Carolina coast by Duke University.
Locals and visitors alike are always invited to take part in the fun and festivities at Sandpiper Bay. The huge clubhouse overlooking the bag drop and driving range provides a great setting for social events whether the are before the round, during the round or after the round. 27-holes makes it easy for Brett and the staff to get creative on the type of events they want to host. They have 9-hole events as well as the traditional 18-hole outings. The welcoming layout makes golfers of all ability levels enjoy the fun and challenge that each 9-hole layout provides. Events such as July’s “Nine and Dine” outing is a prime example of what Sandpiper Bay can offer golfers. Couples are invited to play 9 holes followed by dinner in the clubhouse restaurant. A 6pm shotgun start makes for a perfect evening event for couples to enjoy friendly competition and a great dining experience after the round.
In August there is an amazing event. The Military Appreciation Fundraiser Sandpiper Bay invites golfers to come “Support Our Marines in Combat”. This four-person scramble is a morning event. Brett and his staff will be collecting items to send to our troops. After golf there will be prizes and a Backyard Cookout Lunch!!
It is easy to see with events like this why Sandpiper Bay Golf and Country Club has become a course that has quickly climbed the must play list of golf courses along the Grand Strand. We are happy to help spread that word here on the Myrtle Beach Golf Channel.
