There are several golf courses along the Grand Strand that have holes with views of the Intracoastal Waterway but only at Brick Landing Plantation Golf Club does that course start AND finish along the waterway.  On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a ride to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina to see our good friend Trey Ernstes and take in the amazing view right behind his clubhouse.

Trey is the Director of Golf Operations for this hidden gem of a golf course that boasts probably the best view of all the golf courses in the area.  “The Brick” as it is affectionately called, is a course that once golfers experience it will want to come back again and again.  The combination of the breath-taking views and the sheer variety of vegetation, historic oaks and wildlife on the course makes playing it quite the experience as the ocean breeze drifts off of the ocean.

“We get so many comments about the view” Trey tells us.  “People are amazed when they realize that they can see the Atlantic Ocean from the back of our clubhouse.  They just cannot believe that we are that close to it.  We really are fortunate to have this wonderful and unique location for a golf course here in the Carolinas.”

In between the first and final holes the course winds through the plantation golf community.  Players will experience tidal saltwater marshes, rolling fairways though the hardwood forest and manicured Jones Dwarf Bermuda greens.  Players of all ages and ability levels will enjoy not only the scenery and wonderful atmosphere at Brick Landing but also the design and challenge of the course itself.  This is not a “grip it and rip it” type of golf course.  To navigate “The Brick” players will need to pay attention to the design of each hole and be sure to think and pay attention on each and every shot.

“Most golfers will tell you that you need to play here more than once to really figure it out.  It isn’t too hard” Ernstes says, “It is just not straightforward like some other courses.  Players have to think their way around the course to have success.”
