Meadowlands Golf Club in Calabash, North Carolina prides itself on appealing to golfers of all ages and ability levels and being a player friendly golf course.  On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we will visit with General Manager Brad Thompson as he shares with us some of the things that makes Meadowlands a favorite for many different types of golfers that visit the Golf Capital of the World.

Meadowlands offers golfers a collection of interesting holes including solid par 3’s and a couple of par 5’s that may be reachable in two by longer hitters.  There are five sets of tees and players are encouraged to select the tees and yardage that best fits their ability and skill level. For the big hitters, it spans over 7,000 yards but can play as short as  5,000 yards for forward tee players.  This variety of tee boxes and yardages is the biggest part of what makes Meadowlands a place that all golfers can come to and feel they get a fair challenge of golf.

“We get compliments all the time on the tee box set up” Thompson told us.  “Players really appreciate being able to look at the scorecard before the round and seeing all the options as far as what kind of yardage they want to play from.  We feel very strongly here at Meadowlands Golf Club that we have a set of tees for every golfer that walks through our doors.”  Architects Willard Byrd and David Johnson went to great lengths to ensure the playability of the golf course.  There are plenty of trees and hazards along with a fair amount of water.  However, they chose to provide fair landing areas for most shots.  The only really tough water spots are found on the par 3s at which golfers have to tee off and hit over water to reach the green.  For the most part the course is open and can be navigated without an extreme amount of difficulty.  This allows for a great pace of play and very little problems with visiting golfers now being able to understand or follow the layout of the holes.

“If you haven’t been out to see us and play Meadowlands we invite you out now and see for yourself what we are talking about” said Brad.  “We look forward to see you here.”
