On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a trip to the North Carolina/South Carolina border to check on our friends at Farmstead Golf Links to check out what is happening this summer. This par 72 by Willard Byrd design with enhancements by David Johnson offers five sets of tees and three par 3s on the back nine. Oh and don’t forget the par 6, 18th hole.
The golf experience at Farmstead starts with the 8,000-square foot Georgian style clubhouse that includes a full-service pro shop, grille and lounge. Just out the back doors of the grille is one of the best features at the property. The rear veranda offers a spectacular view of the first tee and 18th green, making it the perfect place for a post-round drink.
Once golfers head off to the first tee they are in for an amazing treat as they tee it. The first thing golfers will notice is how the layout rolls over the natural contours of the land. It provides countless views of the coastal Carolina’s native grasses and sparkling lakes as it makes it way from hole to hole. These surrounding views of the natural landscape are 2nd to none along the Grand Strand.
Farmstead has a reputation of being a very golfer friendly course. That starts with the wide rolling fairways that provide the golfers with generous landing areas off the tee. The five sets of tees allow golfers of any age and all ability levels to pick a yardage they are comfortable playing from and allowing them to enjoy the course to the fullest. The management and staff place such a focus on making sure that the golf course is in pristine playing condition and looking amazing aesthetically.
As the golfers make their way around the property they see a variety of hole designs and green complexes. Yet another great reason to play Farmstead. Golfers do not get the same “look” twice from hole to hole like some golf courses. Each hole has its own individual character and charm which adds to the fun of making the way around the course. All of this makes for great summer time golfing fun.
